Hi everyone!

Happy Friday! We hope you all have had a great week, despite the stormy weather!

Here at MHW-CIC we’ve been busy preparing for many different exciting events and services for you all, one of which is a month long initiative to help support those that are looking to quit smoking – Stoptober. As part of Stoptober, we will be running our usual stop smoking services like the Kick It! Stop Smoking Service, the Knit & Quit support group as well as visiting students during Fresher’s Fair.

Kick It! is a free, ongoing service that will provide guidance and advice to smokers on their journey to quitting smoking. The Kick It! service will be running within the tri-boroughs of the City of Westminster, London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, and Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. At our Queens Park Centre you can speak to our two Stop Smoking Advisor’s, Alison and Marcelo, about any queries or concerns you may have and they will guide you on taking the initial steps for the Kick It! service. So for those of you that are interested in quitting, have been attempting to quit or know someone that may need the guidance with quitting then feel free to drop-in to our Queens Park Centre.

The Knit & Quit support group consists of a mix of smokers, who would like to quit smoking, and non-smokers, who are there to support and encourage the smokers, that meet up on a monthly basis and learn to knit as a means to quit smoking. The next meetings will be held at the New Bloomsbury Set (NBS) which is on 76 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AG.

The dates for the next meetings are:
Wednesday 28th September 2016  19:00 – 21:00 @ NBS
Wednesday 19th October 2016 19:00 – 21:00 @ NBS

We will also be visiting different Fresher’s Fairs across London to promote our Stop Smoking services, Chlamydia screening services and encourage students to volunteer as Companions for our MSH@Home division.

The dates for the Fresher’s Fair and Volunteer Fair that we will be attending are:
Thursday 22nd September 2016 – Supersize Volunteering Fair
Friday 23rd September 2016 – Kings College Fresher’s Fair
Tuesday 27th September 2016 – City University Fresher’s Fair
Thursday 29th September 2016 – Birbeck University Fresher’s Fair
Tuesday 4th October 2016 – Imperial Fresher’s Fair

If you would like to know more about the stop smoking services that we provide, then you are more than welcome to contact us via telephone, email or even in person. We hope you all have a lovely weekend. Don’t forget to share and spread the word!

– Sonam
